2024-2025 Intermediate Season Bronzed

After a grinding through a difficult season in a combined Intermediate division, the Islanders saved their best game of the season for last & captured the bronze medal in the C Division finals with a 6-0 win over Northumberland.

Our teams are looking forward to a fresh start next season and would like to thank everybody involved in the organization, as well as all of those who supported us. Enjoy the warm weather and see you in October!

Silvia Jacobs Memorial Winter Classic – this Saturday!

This Saturday is the 2nd annual Silvia Jacobs Memorial Winter Classic, at the Thornhill Community Centre (7755 Bayview Ave – West Rink), and it will feature our Open & Practice squad players vs. the Markham Islanders U15 AA team.

Puck drop is at 2pm and there will be a free “try sledge” event following the game, for anybody that would like to hop on the ice and give it a go. We’ll also be collecting donations for the Markham Food Bank (non-perishable food or cash) and giving out hot chocolate to all donors. Admission is free, so spread the word & come cheer everybody on!

2 Medals for both teams in 2024

The OSHA 2023/2024 season came to a close at Champions Weekend and both of our squads rebounded from semifinal defeats to capture bronze medals in the Intermediate C and Open East divisions!

This makes it 2 medals for each team, after the Open squad won GOLD and the Intermediates took home silver at the London Blizzard Tournament, back in January.

There’s 1 opportunity left for us to add another to the collection, before breaking for the summer: The Ottawa Tournament takes place in Stittsville, ON (Apr 26-28) and we’ve entered a team in the Open division. We’ll be looking to improve upon the bronze that we captured in that division last year.

Silver lining to the 2021/2022 Season

The Islanders went into Champions Weekend as the #3 seed of the Intermediate C division and came up with a big 3-0 victory over #2 Niagara, on semi-final Saturday. But they were unable to topple the undefeated #1 team Kawartha in the finals – falling 4-2, in a hard-fought game for the division title.

With 2 silver medals so far this season, the team will now focus on going for gold at the Ontario Parasport Games (May 13-15, in Mississauga)!

November to remember

On the heels of a best-ever, silver medal performance at the Cruisers Cup, the Islanders won their first two games of the regular season by identical 4-1 scores, over Northumberland and Hamilton!

The team will look to extend their winning streak in December, when they visit Elmvale and Kawartha.
